About Stephen
A Life Defined by Tenacity, Integrity, and Service
Stephen John Komorek is a special investigator, strategist, award winning author, educator, and Army veteran whose career has taken him across more than twenty five countries and through involvement in over 3,000 complex matters.
The
Background
Over nearly two decades, Stephen Komorek has contributed to more than 3,000 investigations and complex matters across more than 25 countries, including work in coordination with multiple U.S. three-letter agencies. He has supported law firms, corporations, government entities, nonprofit organizations, and private individuals in cases involving international investigations, intelligence operations, counterterrorism, organized crime, human trafficking, corporate espionage, political corruption, litigation support, crisis response, and other high-stakes situations requiring discretion and careful judgment.
Stephen's path began far from conventional opportunities. Beginning at age 12, he spent much of his adolescence living in group homes and government-run facilities. One of those facilities was later shut down by the state attorney general following the discovery of crimes committed against children in its care. These experiences gave Stephen firsthand knowledge of how institutions can fail the vulnerable and helped form his lasting commitment to truth, accountability, and helping people who have nowhere else to turn. Seeking a way to turn that commitment into action, Stephen joined the U.S. Army as a path to help people and serve something larger than himself.
Stephen is a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Iraq War and the broader War on Terror. His career has taken him from complex domestic investigations to international intelligence, humanitarian, and counter-trafficking operations. His experience includes supporting evacuation efforts in Afghanistan and participating in humanitarian and counter-trafficking work connected to the war in Ukraine. Throughout his career, he has worked alongside attorneys, investigators, security professionals, government officials, and humanitarian organizations to develop reliable information, protect vulnerable people, and help decision-makers act when the facts were incomplete and the consequences were significant.
His professional experience is supported by a sustained commitment to education. He holds undergraduate and graduate-level academic training in law, paralegal studies, and professional studies, and is currently completing graduate studies in history with a focus on education while also pursuing doctoral studies. He has also completed more than 60 professional certifications and specialized programs, including extensive training across intelligence, counterintelligence, behavioral analysis, deception detection, surveillance, security, and investigative disciplines.
Stephen has carried this experience into his work as an intelligence instructor, public speaker, and award-winning author. Whether advising on an investigation, teaching professionals, or writing about intelligence, deception, strategy, and human behavior, he follows the same principles that have guided his career: prepare thoroughly, assess the evidence honestly, protect those who place their trust in him, and continue working when the path forward is difficult or unclear.
